Peru. The Advisory Council of Radio and Television of Peru, ConcorTV, published its most recent study in which it noted that the number of radio and television stations in the country has grown by 7% per year during the last two years.
The results of the report prepared by the Council are based on the information provided by the General Directorate of Authorizations in Telecommunications and the General Directorate of Control and Supervision of Communications of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).
Other numbers in the study are:
- As of February 2016, there are 5,684 radio and television stations nationwide. The holders with the largest number of stations are the National Institute of Radio and Television of Peru (IRTP) with 393 television stations, and in radio, the Bethel Cultural Association with 130 stations.
- There are only 03 radio stations with a community purpose in all of Peru.
- There are a total of 131 holders of public-state radio and television, belonging to regional and local governments and public universities. 88% are from municipalities.
- The holders of radio and television services who did not present a Code of Ethics and those who avail themselves of the Code of Ethics of the MTC represent 83%.
- During 2015, 214 radio and television broadcasters were sanctioned nationwide, accumulating a total of 223 sanctions and 278 infractions. For non-compliance with the Code of Ethics and the Family Schedule, only one violation was registered.
