NAB. During the weekend leading up to NAB, Avid brought together its users and customers from around the world in the now traditional Avid Connect, which this year was held at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.
Opening the event, Louis Hernández Jr, CEO of Avid, presented the novelties that this year brought the company to the fair, including the new Cloud Collaboration service for Pro Tools 12.5 and the Nexis storage system.
Pro Tools with Avid Cloud Collaboration connects artists and media professionals to a world-class community for collaborative work in music creation and audio production. The fact that Pro Tools 12.5 is the fifth version of the software in less than a year shows the promise of offering more frequent innovations.
Now, instead of wasting time manually handling the files that are required when using generic cloud storage, Avid Cloud Collaboration automatically synchronizes revisions and files in Pro Tools. Users can find and invite their contacts to collaborate from the app itself, or they can also discover new collaborators through the Avid Artist Community.
So they can compose, record, edit and mix tracks collaboratively with other Pro Tools users, just as if they were working together in the same studio. In addition, the Artist Community allows clients to share and promote their work with top artists, musicians, producers, engineers, and other media professionals.
The other standout release, the Nexis, the software-defined storage platform designed specifically for storing and managing media. Enables virtualized storage so media organizations can adjust project storage capacity, without disrupting workflows.
It has been designed to serve smaller production teams as strongly as larger media companies and is the only storage platform built with the flexibility to grow with customers at every stage of their business, in compliance with a key principle of Avid Everywhere.
