NAB. Blackmagic Design presented new products that address three distinct areas: the delivery of ultra high definition and 4K, the commitment to IP and new camera improvements. It also unveiled a major update to Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve.
Providing UHD/4K Delivery
Blackmagic Design is launching a new initiative to provide ultra high definition and 4K delivery, including the launch of the new 4K Duplicator. This revolutionary new addition to the live events industry enables the delivery of ultra-high-definition content by recording files to SD cards.
Other products that are now ready for ultra HD and 4K include converter updates, a new DeckLink Duo 2 PCIe capture and playback card, an ATEM mixer upgrade, UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3, a 10.6.4 Desktop Video update with HDR and 4K Video Assist.
Committing to the IP
Blackmagic has partnered with intoPIX to adopt TICO's IP standard. They will launch video solutions that will support TICO's advanced compression technology, making it possible to stream ultra HD and 4K video streams over IP networks. This will help broadcasters make transitions to workflows in 4K video over IP giving greater flexibility and power at a lower cost.
Camera Advances
The Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder turns the Blackmagic URSA Mini into a true professional studio camera. The seven-inch Studio Viewfinder has been designed for camera operators working on live events that may be working behind the camera for several hours as it is fully adjustable and has physical buttons for quick operation.
Camera Update 3.2 is also available and adds features such as interior line, count, camera control and ATEM mixer lens control. They have also announced a major new camera operating system for the URSA Mini, which features an amazing new user interface and new features.
DaVinci Resolve 12.5
For DaVinci Resolve, version 12.5 was introduced, which features more than 1,000 improvements and 250 new features, including major additions to the editing toolkit, new color features, improved HDR support, and powerful new effects. Colorists can now switch between nodes, with new improvements to the node editor.
For more advanced visual effects workflow, DaVinci Resolve 12.5 now offers a Fusion Connect feature, which allows the user to submit clips from the Fusion software for additional visual effects.
