Colombia. After the last presentation made by the delegation of Colombia in the Committee on Digital Economy Policy of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the ICT sector begins a new stage of participation in that organization.
The strengthening of the independence of the regulator of the ICT sector and in digital security in Colombia, obtained good comments in the Committee on Policy in Digital Economy of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), during the development of its 71st session, held this week in Paris, France.
This achievement is the product of the support made by the Ministry of ICT and the Communications Regulation Commission, articulating entity of the ICT sector vis-à-vis the OECD, on the status of compliance with the legal instruments and recommendations of the Organization.
The exhibition was attended by Jorge Bejarano, delegate of MinTIC, who socialized the advances in digital security and Juan Manuel Wilches Durán, Commissioner of the CRC, who shared the measures adopted to strengthen the independence of the regulatory body in Colombia, taking into account global trends in terms of convergence and competition.
"We had good receptivity and excellent feedback from OECD member countries on the access of Colombia's ICT sector to the Organization. They recognize and value the measures adopted to achieve autonomy that facilitates the regulatory body to improve the conditions of competition in the markets and ensure the quality of the services that users receive, "said Wilches.
The good results obtained open the door for an even more active participation of Colombia in the meetings and for the socialization of our good practices in the OECD. Based on the comments received, a new stage in decision-making begins that will strengthen the National ICT Policy and the regulatory environment that is aligned with international best practices.
