Latin America. A few days ago it was announced the closing of the purchase of the French company Thomson Video Networks by Harmonic, a union through which Harmonic becomes one of the largest digital technology companies.
TVyVideo+Radio spoke with Dino Munoz, who served as Thomson's Vice President for Latin America and is now the director of strategic accounts for the region at Harmonic, who explained what the scope and effects of this negotiation will be with the clients of both companies in the region.
"The union of Harmonic and Thomson is a complement of customers and technologies, Thomson has been very strong in the satellite part and Harmonic in cable and OTT. Harmonic becomes the largest digital television company on the market today," said Dino Munoz.
As for the human talent, he added that the staff of both companies remains, the directors that Harmonic had in areas remain and the Thomson team becomes a complement to that team. The group that serves Latin America is made up of a Vice President for the region, Dino in charge of strategic accounts and some countries will have a director with a structured support team.
In addition, the company will continue with its partners in each country. If in some small countries there are two different distributors, they will decide on one that has a greater presence and support capacity.
