Chile and Colombia sign agreement on public and children's TV

Chile. The President of the National Television Council of Chile, Oscar Reyes, visited the public channel of Colombia, RTVC, Sistemas de Medios Públicos, with the aim of comparing experiences and signing agreements to exchange children's television productions between Chile and Colombia.

On the occasion, he held a meeting with the executive director of RTVC, Jhon Jairo Ocampo, with whom he analyzed the moment that TV is experiencing in both countries. "Democracy is strengthened with citizens accessing their realities through media that adequately represent the country's diversity. People want to see themselves  reflected on TV, which is why inclusive television is a requirement for a democratic society. The inclusion of various social agents in the media system allows the expression and representation of their interests," said CNTV President Oscar Reyes.

For his part, the executive director of RTVC, Public Media System, Jhon Jairo Ocampo, said that in Colombia work is being done on financing and convergence with multiplatforms so that public media reach everywhere autonomously and independently and to all citizens. After recalling that a new financial mechanism was included in the National Development Plan to favor the sector, he insisted that "we must have allies of all work orders. The State with the financial guarantee, the editorial independence and above all, the political will to strengthen the public media".

After this meeting, he visited Mi Señal, a children's channel, belonging to Señal Colombia, designed to generate knowledge and strengthen the cultural identity of children between 3 and 11 years old. Mi Señal exhibited the international premiere of "Puerto Papel", the series made in paper-motion by the Chileans Zumbástico Studios, winner of the CNTV Fund in 2012, in the line of international co-production, which had an excellent reception among the public and critics.

In addition, among the meetings scheduled for the tour he met with  the board of the Ibero-American Platform of Television Regulators, PRAI.
