Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, reported that during November 50 authorizations have been granted to provide the sound and television broadcasting service nationwide.
The authorizations granted will allow the broadcasters to provide the broadcasting service for a period of 10 years and the programming broadcast will be received by the general public within the authorized locality. These have been awarded in 16 departments nationwide.
According to the General Directorate of Authorizations in Telecommunications (DGAT), of the total authorizations granted, 30% correspond to broadcasting services for educational purposes, 2% correspond to broadcasting services with a community purpose and 68% to a commercial purpose. It should be noted that in the last 6 months 197 new authorizations have been granted to provide the aforementioned service.
Meanwhile, the towns of Chincheros (department of Apurímac, in the VHF band), Lampa (department of Puno, in the FM band) and Pacaipampa (department of Piura, in the FM band) have been declared in restriction to provide the sound and television broadcasting service because there are more applications than frequencies available, so that authorizations can only be granted to operate in these locations through a public tender.
In this sense, the DGAT urges those administered who seek to start broadcasting activities to evaluate making their investments in other localities that have frequency availability, this information is available on the MTC website: http://comunicaciones.mtc.gob.pe/frecuencias/Radiodifusion.aspx.
On the other hand, the modification of the plan of channeling and assignment of frequencies of the VHF television broadcasting service for the town of Agallpampa-Mache-Salpo, in the Department of La Libertad, was approved, with frequencies available to provide this service.
The DGAT, reminded the general public that to provide the broadcasting service it is necessary to have an authorization requested from this entity and it is not necessary to resort to processors or managers who carry out the procedures, the information and forms for this are available on the website of the MTC (www.mtc.gob.pe).
In the coming days, a public tender will be called to grant authorizations for the Broadcasting Service in localities where there is a restriction on the availability of frequencies or channels in the same band, in compliance with current regulations.
