International. Sony announced the progress of IP interoperability as part of its ongoing collaboration to integrate Evertz's Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) solution and Sony's IP Live production system.
Being the latest extraordinary advancement, Evertz's high-capacity mixer structures, including EXE and 3080-IPX, are being leveraged as the primary routing of Sony's IP Live production system network. This development allows both companies to offer a complete solution to live production environments.
"Evertz is a key partner in collaboratively developing the comprehensive IP-based workflow, which can become an industry driver that powers and standardizes future interoperability architectures and network infrastructure for audio and video over IP," said Hiroshi Kiriyama, senior general manager, content creation solutions business division, Sony Corporation. "Our collaboration with Evertz and the IP technology developments of the IP Live production system will ensure that the needs of multimedia and entertainment customers for comprehensive IP-based network solutions are met."
Sony's IP Live production system is a value-added solution that increases operational efficiency while offering strong compatibility with high-value modes such as 4K and 8K. The IP Live production system unifies and modernizes live streaming workflows, as well as being compatible with emerging next-generation technologies in the field of content creation.
The core of the SDVN solution is Magnum, Evertz's control and coordination system. Magnum solves the increasing challenges that broadcasters face as facilities grow in size, complexity and dispersion. It is designed to unify the control and operation of main routing, master control, production mixing, advanced transport and multivisor in both hybrid SDI and IP installations.
"We are excited to work with Sony to bring compelling IP solutions to market," said Eric Fankhauser, vice president of product development at Evertz. "It is fantastic that two industry innovators can work together to deliver an integrated IP solution that features Evertz's IP and SDVN infrastructure solutions as well as Sony's IP Live production system. There is no doubt that this collaboration will allow for a smooth transition to IP-based workflows and installations."
