Chile. The event that brings together the most important executives of the television industry and world-renowned companies, Chile Media Show, will feature in 2015 with top-level conferences and commercial exhibitions.
The event has scheduled nine panels among which the presence of Vivo Play, Accedo, Media Networks, Samsung, Network Broadcast, FOX, Turner, AMC, Business Bureau, SES and Anatel, among others, stands out. It will talk about: the relationship of OTTs with consumers; the current situation of non-linear TV regulation; piracy; social television and the importance of interacting with viewers; 4K as a content generator standard.
For several years, Latin American countries have been advancing reforms to the policies that govern television, some based on technology and other political motivations. But the question everyone is asking is whether these changes have prepared them to face the challenges that the new realities bring to the sector. How to prepare, what should be regulated and what is the limit of the new rules, are some of the questions that will be analyzed during this conference, organized by Certal.
With an environment that has become increasingly competitive with actors such as Netflix or Amazon, and the fact that younger consumers opt for a combination of screen – from tablets and computers to TV and smartphones – in addition to the growing interest in movies, series and sports content in 4K, broadcasters must look for ways to equip themselves with technologies that make them competitive.
Chile Media Show will also organize a conference on Social Television, called "Social Television: The Importance of Interacting with Viewers." People are currently connected to the internet and the digital world on different devices. And for this reason, television chose to offer various ways for viewers to interact with the programs offered: social integration, recommendation systems, ratings, comments and interactive participation among viewers through chats or videos.
Faced with this situation, we seek to understand how important interaction is, generate good communication with viewers and what are the preferred mechanisms when focusing on this area. Also, how important are second screens in advertising strategy? Studies indicate that the user pays more attention to an ad when it is on tv and on another device.
