International. The Electronic Control System (ECS) is a complete modular set of tools for wireless remote control, not only for Arri cameras and lenses but literally for any camera and any lens. In addition to free software update packages for the WCU-4 Compact Wireless Unit and UMC-4 Universal Motor Controller, Arri also added the new CLM-5 lens motor and an external monitor mount attached to the WCU-4.
The CLM-5 is a small, lightweight, yet fast and responsive lens motor designed for demanding setups on gimbals and aerial drones. Directly compatible with most ALEXA models, the CLM-5 can also be used with other cameras via the UMC-4 Universal Motor Controller or the SMC-1 Single Motor Controller, or cmotion controllers.
With the CLM-5 there are now five Arri lens motors, offering a range of torque, speed and size options. Fast and powerful, the CLM-3 is perfect for heavy lenses and in difficult conditions, while the CLM-2 and CLM-4 go very well with all standard lenses. The cforce mini with serial connection is the ideal choice for the ALEXA Mini as it provides an integrated and super lightweight solution.
The WCU-4 is a comfortable and versatile manual unit that offers control for three-axis lenses. Rugged and splash-proof, it offers an easy-to-read lens data display, lens mapping for pre-marked focus rings, focus tracking, vibrating alerts, and custom lens file programming. The new WCU-4 Monitor Mount now allows monitors to be attached to the top of the unit.
This software-free update for the UMC-4 enables support for the new CLM-5 lens engine and introduces features such as automatic distance unit configuration with the UDM-1 for ultrasonic distance measurement (based on the selected focus scale unit) and lens data display on the WCU-4 unit when using Lens Data System (LDS)-equipped lenses with AMIRA cameras, ALEXA Mini or ALEXA SXT.
An extended remote control of the Amira and Alexa Mini cameras is also enabled via the WCU-4 unit, as well as support for cforce motor via the Lens Control System interface, and support for the LDS lens calibration station. In addition, the SUP 1.2 package of the UMC-4 control incorporates many other user interface improvements and some small extensions.
The latest software update package for the popular three-axis WCU-4 manual unit incorporates a custom lens programming mode for a greater number of data points on the focus scale (providing greater scaling accuracy), and the ability to erase points from while a lens scale is being programmed. The WCU-4's SUP 2.2 package additionally includes many other user interface enhancements and some small upgrades.
