Certal Panama presents a new forum on piracy

Panama. After the successful Forum last year, the Certal Panama Chapter presents its II International Forum that will have topics that will navigate between piracy, intellectual property, copyright, rights management and protection of creations in their most varied forms. It will be held at the Aloft Hotel in Panama City during the framework of the Expo Tepal 2015 on July 23.

In legal terminology, the term copyright is used to describe the rights of creators in their literary and artistic works. Works covering copyright range from books, music, painting, sculpture and films to software, databases, advertisements, maps and technical drawings. Copyright legislation in the West began in 1710 with the Statute of Queen Anne and is recognized as one of the fundamental human rights in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

On the other hand, intellectual property relates to the creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, as well as symbols, names and images used in commerce. Laws protect intellectual property, for example, through patents, copyright and trademarks, which allow recognition or profits to be obtained for inventions or creations. By balancing the interest of innovators and the public interest, the intellectual property system seeks to foster an enabling environment for creativity and innovation to thrive.

Luis C. Endara III, President of the Panama Chapter of Certal, said that: "Certal is an organization that has been growing and that makes itself available to Panamanian society to continue advancing in the fight against irregularities in the field of intellectual property and piracy. On our part we can only invite you to collaborate, continue working, and we hope that a large delegation can accompany us to our 6th. World Summit, to be held in this country in the month of December," he concluded.

It is for these reasons that the Certal Panama Chapter chaired by Luis C. Endara III continues on this path and is pleased to invite you to participate and collaborate in the II International Forum of the Union Against Piracy: "Intellectual Property and Piracy in Panama" to be held on July 23 from 08:00 hrs. within the framework of the Tepal Convention Expo, which will be held at the facilities of the Aloft Hotel in Panama City.
