Latin America. Pay-TV operators have had to face changes due to technology developments for the sector. That's why SeaChange has been revamped to help operators cope with changes that have to do with set top boxes, mobile devices, social media integration and monetization models.
Over the past three years, the company has shifted from hardware production to focusing on software and service development on new methods and models of content distribution for pay-TV operators. Recently, it has also focused on offering these solutions to channels and content producers.
Rafael Castillo, Vice President of Sales for Latin America at SeaChange, told TVyVideo that the channels are being offered the same technology and the company's experience of integration with companies that make up the ecosystem for this type of solutions, as a consulting model to know which is the best option.
"This will allow television channels and content owners, who do not have a clear business model to launch an OTT platform direct to the final consumer, the possibility of implementing a platform without a very high investment, because it is a service model and is paid according to the size of the system you want to implement," Added.
Regarding the company's presence in the region, Rafael Castillo explained that since its link last October, it has focused on forming a group with support, engineering, sales and distribution, to continue serving pay-TV operators and new verticals, such as television channels and content producers.
And as a novelty for that group that serves the region, Fernando Graciano has just joined to lead the northern area, that is, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, in addition to Venezuela and Colombia. They also have two engineers in Brazil and are looking for a person to serve the southern area. To this group are added the distributors.
Rafael Castillo concluded that channels, Pay-TV operators and content producers are researching these new technologies, they see it as something they have to do but it is not generating a return. "Many are in the planning stage and that is why we have a group of experts who can accompany them in this process."
