Colombia. All televisions that are marketed in this country, as of may 1, 2015, must have new identification notices that make it easier for users to know whether or not the equipment is compatible with the DVB-T2 standard, used in the country for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).
This was established by the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) in Resolution 4672 of 2015, which modified the advertising obligations so that users easily identify these equipment at the time of purchase.
The measure adopted establishes that the new notices must be displayed in a visible place of the televisions displayed, as well as in the boxes in which these equipment are packed. When it comes to purchases on websites, the ads must be located next to the equipment offered, in a size that allows to verify if the TV has the ability to receive DTT signals or if it does not have this functionality.
To facilitate the understanding by users, the measure adopted establishes that in cases where the TV is compatible with DTT, the buyer will identify the TV with the green notice. On the other hand, if the equipment is not compatible with DTT, the identification will be with the red notice, as seen in the following image:

The Commission noted that this provision seeks to protect the user and that he has the necessary information to decide to buy a television to tune into Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), thus contributing to speed up the process of adopting this technology. Likewise, he reiterated that DTT is free and is currently available in the main cities of the country, offering better video and sound quality, as well as the possibility of having more channels, among other options.
