Latin America. Wellav is a young company, it has eight years in the market, and from the beginning it has had a sustained growth. It started with few products but was adding CAS, set top box, until it reached a comprehensive solution for subscription TV operators.
Diego Tanco, sales director for Latin America at Wellav, explained to TVyVideo that the company has marked its growth with the acquisition of new companies that have added systems to their portfolio, such as transcoding software for multiscreen and OTT. The latest development in this regard was the strategic alliance established with Sencore, which will allow Wellav to enter new markets.
In Latin America, the company has important clients, such as Claro, CNN Chile, Win Sport in Colombia, as well as cable operators in almost all countries.
Wellav's Sales Director for Latin America indicated that the region remains a little behind in medium and small cable operators, who are looking at digitization and adding HD channels, while large clable operators are more advanced, looking for options of OTT, IPTV and value-added services.
