Latin America. Starting this week, Netflix content will be available to Cuban consumers, who will be able to access the service depending on internet access and the availability of credit and debit cards.
This was made known by the company in a situation that arises after the beginning of the new relations between the United States and Cuba, announced a couple of months ago. The question everyone is asking is how much of the population will be able to access the company's services, considering that credit cards and the internet are not common among the inhabitants of the island.
"We are very excited as we are finally offering Netflix to consumers in Cuba and have the opportunity to connect them with incredible stories from around the world that we are sure they will fall in love with. Cuba has excellent content producers and a great artistic culture. We also look forward to sharing the country's aesthetic richness with our global audience of more than 57 million members," said Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings.
Netflix began offering its service in Latin America in 2011 and already has more than five million members.
