Chile. During the last month, the National Television Commission, CNTV, has published a series of texts prepared by its Department of Studies in which the responsibility of different social actors is described, in front of the news treatment that children receive on TV.
The representation of childhood, respect for their emotional state when they are used as a source, inadequate questions, little depth, absence of appropriate experts, among others, are some of the journalistic practices that are detected in free-to-air TV newscasts that often manage to victimize a child for the second time, who is already in the news.
And although it is a study on Chilean television, for the most part, the observations apply to all the countries in the region.
