Latin America. The Alianza Informativa Latinoamaericana, AIL, held its VIII General Assembly in San José, Costa Rica, hosted by the Teletica channel.
The eighth version of the meeting was attended by prominent guests, among whom were: Kurt Davis, Vice President of News Services of the CBS channel; Nell Donovan, Head of News Sales, CBS; and Tony Cavin, Vice Director of International News of the CBS channel, with a view to a possible signature for the linking of this corporation as a 22nd member of the organization.
Another novelty of this meeting was the first Technical Meeting of the AIL, a space conducive to the exchange and integration of the engineering departments of the allied stations, here the participants had the opportunity to talk about issues of connectivity and television industry.
The space also had the participation of commercial companies such as NewTek, Rohde & Schwarz, LiveU, The Telos Alliance and Sony; which intervened in the academic agenda of the event with technical talks on their development in new technologies and complemented their presentation with a demonstration of the performance of their teams.
Similarly, the Assembly was the scene of the Iris America 2014 awards, held thanks to the support of the Academy of Arts and Television of Spain. The first edition of the awards recognized the best journalistic works of the allied channels in three categories: Best Investigative Work, Best Television Story and Best Breaking Report.
Finally, the meeting closed with the election by vote of the Steering Committee of the Alliance, which was formed this year by: Caracol Television of Colombia, Azteca of Mexico, Ecuavisa of Ecuador, Wapa of Puerto Rico, Montecarlo of Uruguay and ATV channel 15 of Aruba.
