Implementation of the second phase of DTT begins

Colombia. In compliance with the provisions of the open invitation selection process No. 02 of 2014, RTVC awarded the contract for the installation and commissioning of the Transmission Systems for Phase II of Digital Terrestrial Television, to the company Broad Telecom-BTESA, for a total value of $5,459,851,000, from the Fund for the Development of Television and Content, administered by the National Television Authority.

This phase includes the acquisition and commissioning of transmission systems, electrical equipment and the realization of civil works in six stations located in Armenia, Florencia, Montería, Neiva, San Andrés Islas and Sincelejo.

The hearing was accompanied by the Attorney General's Office for preventive surveillance of the public function of the Attorney General's Office.

 

It should be noted that this public call also had the participation of the companies Mier Comunicaciones, ITALTELEC S.P.A and Unión temporal Istronyc Syes Colombia, as well as the Temporary Union Rohde & Schwarz Colombia and Rohde & Schwarz Spain, which are currently implementing the first phase of Digital Terrestrial Television.

 

"With the assignment of the contract for the installation of the primary DTT network – Phase II, we will be covering from December 2014, 65% of the Colombian population," said Diana Celis, Manager of Señal Colombia Public Media System, Who also added that the entity acts as an engine to promote the modernization and evolution of public television in the country.

 

The implementation of DTT is a milestone in the technological revolution that the country is experiencing. It represents the development and commitment to bring Colombians the television they deserve, with innovation and quality content.

As of June of this year, RTVC will put into operation 12 stations of the digital terrestrial television transmission network, so that the inhabitants of the cities of Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Bucaramanga, Cúcuta, Pereira and towns surrounding these cities will be able to see Señal Colombia, Institutional Signal, Channel One and the regional channel that covers each city in the new digital standard.
