NAB. Since before the NAB exhibition opened its doors, there are many companies that begin to present their products. One of them is Sony, which made important announcements about technology and jobs in our region. He even announced new communication channels for the Latino market.
Along with its announcements of new technologies in 4K production, which include its F5, F55 and F65 cameras, workflows that take great importance in color correction, one of the news that has attracted the most attention is the transmission of three of the matches of the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil in 4k, in partnership with FIFA TV.
The person in charge of this project is Luiz Padilha, vice president of Professional Solutions Latin America, who told TV Y VIDEO that the joint work between the two companies began in 2013 with the 4K recording of several matches of the Confederations Cup, also held in Brazil. "That experience helped the 4K developments Sony is introducing this year."
In addition to the three matches that will be broadcast via satellite, one of the knockout stages (June 28), one of the quarterfinals (on July 4) and the final (on July 13) at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Sony and FIFA will jointly produce the Official Film of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in 4K.
The film will cover a selection of matches, including the final. The Official 4K Movie will be distributed online by FIFA through 4K content distribution services following the completion of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
And this last point takes on greater significance because Sony announced that, as part of its developments in 4K, it is testing streaming platforms. For this, it has its own platform, in addition, it works hand in hand with Netflix and Youtube.
But the World Cup in Brazil will not be the first event that Sony will broadcast in 4K. Luiz Padilha commented that on April 27, they will also support the transmission of the canonization ceremony of Pope John Paul II, obviously, in 4K.
Sony's bet on this technology is great, if you take into account that they estimate that by 2015 there will be about seven million 4K-based TVs in the world.
Communication with the region
Sony also wants to strengthen its communication with customers in Latin America. For this reason, Felicia Travaillot announced that the Professional Solutions Latin America division now has a presence on the social networks Facebook and Instagram, from which all the concerns coming from the region will be answered quickly.
In addition, there are the portals www.sonyprolatino.com, in which you will find detailed information about professional cameras and events in the region.
