Mexico. With the formal and cataloged delivery of 2,123 cases in process related to applications for the granting of new concessions, permits and spectrum assignments for official use, extensions, revocations, modifications, corporate movements and sanction procedures , among others, the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) continues to assume functions.
The entity in charge of sending the information was the General Directorate of Telecommunications and Broadcasting Policy of the Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT), which also attached 1,100 files of concluded cases.
The culmination of this process is the result of the work carried out by the work teams assigned by both institutions during the previous three weeks, which were responsible for reviewing, classifying and organizing the documentation received by the IFT. These files were previously handled before the SCT, however, following the recent creation of the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT), it is up to this body to be the regulator and authority in matters of economic competition of the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors.
As an autonomous constitutional body, the IFT must regulate, promote and supervise the use, exploitation and exploitation of the radio spectrum, networks and the provision of broadcasting and telecommunications services, in addition to having the power to grant, revoke and sanction concessions in the field of broadcasting and telecommunications.
It is worth mentioning that several officials from both institutions were present at the ceremony of delivery reception, as well as the representative of the Internal Control Body of the SCT.
