Conclusions of Panorama Audiovisual Iberoamericano 2013

Latin America. The Entity for the Management of Rights of Audiovisual Producers, Egeda, presented its most recent report entitled Ibero-American Audiovisual Panorama 2013, on the production of content for different platforms.

The study analyzed, among other things, the organization and audiovisual policies of 22 Ibero-American countries, their film production and television market. It also dwells on the audiovisual training offer of these countries and considers the future business models fostered by the unstoppable development of digital technology.

The report also analyzed the television and digital panorama in Ibero-America, a panorama that, with the exception of Spain and Portugal, reflects that the digital transition of terrestrial television in the different countries of the region will be completed after 2020. This panorama also reflects that private televisions far exceed public ones in screen share and that the average penetration of pay television is greater than 40%.

On audiovisual policies , he identified significant progress in the development of active policies on the audiovisual sector in most countries. Likewise, training is widespread, with strengths and weaknesses; the policies of conservation and preservation of audiovisual material are very present in almost all countries and there is unanimity in relation to festivals as a model for the promotion of local talent.

In the chapter of Ibero-American film production, on a base sample of 12 countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Portugal and Venezuela) that represent 85% of the Ibero-American population, 90% of the regional GDP, add up to more than 15,500 screens and represent 9% of the total world spectators who attend the cinema, we can say that, in 2012, the premieres of national cinema represent 20% of the total.
