Ecuador. With the award of the satellite TV distribution project for the public telecommunications company Etapa, with coverage throughout Ecuador, the Chilean TuVes begins operations in this country with its DTH technology.
The Chilean company will support the provision of the wholesale Satellite TV service, granting Ecuadorian society access to high-definition television with the possibility of recording, pausing and rewinding (PVR) the best programmatic content; reaching places in Ecuador where conventional cable service cannot access.
According to Konrad Burchardt, CEO of TuVes S.A. (photo), the agreement with the Ecuadorian company was closed in January of this year and in three months the service was implemented that included the provision of equipment, training of human resources in sales, installation, technical and commercial after-sales. They also implemented, in record time, a basic programmatic grid of 63 signals that include three HD signals, ten audio and four local signals.
The executive added that the entry to Ecuador is a goal of his company within the framework of the regional expansion plan of TuVes whose main objective is to offer its wholesale service of coded satellite television to the main companies in the sector in Latin America.
The Ecuadorian Etapa is a municipal public company based in the Cuenca region, which provides telecommunications, drinking water, sewerage and sanitation services. Since June 2013, it has become the first public institution in the country to provide a satellite television service.
