Costa Rica. After winning a tender and with an investment of close to US$70 million, Claro is the new subscription television operator of the Central American country, in which it began offering a package for US$25, with 61 channels in its programming.
With the license for 15 years, extendable for another 10, Claro enters to compete with consolidated operators in Costa Rica, such as Tigo TV, Cablevisión, Sky and Cabletica. For which its launch campaign will have the so-called premium channels within the package of 61 channels.
The work of the new operator to be able to provide the Pay-TV service began in October, the month in which it was granted the license. And the process of installing and tuning your system in just two months has drawn attention for how quickly it was done.
And it is that its entire system is based on the Open Smartflex mediaBOSS software, designed to support the commercial and operational processes of telecommunications companies, with an effective experience in public services domiciled in the region and in Latin America in general.
There are 19 countries in which the company Claro, owned by Carlos Slim through his company América Movil, has a presence with its subscription television services. In Central America it also has a presence in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Panama.
It is expected that soon Claro Costa Rica will also begin to offer its telephone and internet services, which it offers in most countries where it has a presence.
