Latin America. The region's free-to-air television channels are the target for the future business of the Time Warner company, according to the statements given by the president, Gerhard Zeiler, to different media.
The first step in this new investment plan was taken by the company in 2010, when it acquired in Chile the open signal chain Chilevisión, which was owned by the current president of that country Sebastián Piñera.
The next step will be to bet on the bidding process that the National Television Authority of Colombia will open in the coming days to grant a third open signal channel, which is expected to be delivered during 2013.
But Gerhard Zeiler did not give further details about who he could partner with to apply for this tender for the Colombian channel or what will be the action plan to enter the free-to-air television market in Brazil.
One of the arguments for making this market decision is because Time Warner's core business, subscription television, is still low in Latin American countries compared to the United States and Europe.
The president of Time Warner concluded his statements by assuring that he would be very surprised if in the next 24 months they have not acquired new channels.
