Latin America. The passive way in which viewers relate to television content is changing and in this sense the future of television is developing.
Now viewers want to have an opinion, participate in the contents, an interaction that has begun with social networks and that according to the latest measurements, today 62% of viewers are connected to social networks while watching television, a figure that for this year represents a growth of 18% compared to 2011. Of these, 25% are commenting on what they are seeing.
This is the result of the study on Trends in television consumption in 2012, conducted by Ericsson's Consumer Lab in countries in Asia, America and Europe, and which in our region included Brazil, Chile and Mexico.
Twitter and Facebook are the most used networks by those who are watching television, which in the case of the Latin American countries included in the study Mexico is the one with the highest percentage, with 83%, followed by Chile with 79% and Brazil with 73%.
In addition, the study also asked about those who use chat while watching TV to comment on the shows they are watching. In this sense, 79% of Mexicans usually do so, as well as 76% of Chileans and 61% of Brazilians.
This interactivity achieved thanks to new technologies, is being taken into account by the industry, which now has solutions in graphics management that allow channels to broadcast live the opinions of viewers about the program, published on social networks.
