Chile. With a focus on rural and some urban areas where coverage is poor or there are no satellite television, fixed telephony and broadband internet services, the Company Entel seeks to expand its line of business, leaving its traditional business, mobile telephony.
These services can be purchased individually or in packaging, known in Latin America as Triple play. But things will not be easy for Entel with its new business, because it will have to face positioned companies, such as Telefónica, VTR and Claro.
At the time of announcing its new line of business, the manager of regulation and corporate affairs of Entel, Manuel Araya, said "we are very happy to arrive with an attractive offer of services to households in these areas that have been less covered by traditional operators".
In total, Entel will invest this year in its new services.
It should be remembered that this is the second option that Entel had to enter the home services business, after at the beginning of this year it advanced a merger process with the company GTD, which offers cable television and internet.
This process could not be concluded because the two companies could incur a violation of the free competition law, according to a concept of the entity in charge of controlling Chile's antitrust law.
