Mexico. With the new code of conduct, new headquarters and a plaque installed in the building, the Federal Telecommunications Commission, Cofetel, celebrated its 16 years of regulation of television and communications in Mexico.
In a formal ceremony, which was attended by the Secretary of Communications and Transportation, Dionisio Pérez Jácome, and the former presidents of Cofetel, Carlos Casasús López Hermosa, who in addition to currently being the president of the Advisory Council of the entity, was the first head of the Commission— and Jorge Nicolín Fischer, the third Commissioner President of the institution.
At the event, Dionisio Pérez-Jácome Friscione, said that Cofetel reaches its first 16 years as a more solid and stronger regulatory body, in addition to ratifying full respect for the technical autonomy of the Commission and called for work, recognizing the differences of any collegiate body, but betting on unity.
For his part, the Commissioner President of Cofetel, Mony de Swaan Addati, announced the issuance of the Code of Conduct that should guide the actions of all members of the institution. He stressed that this Code is part of the Accountability, Transparency and Fight against Corruption Program issued by the Secretariat of the Public Function, which seeks to contribute to the development of a culture of adherence to legality, ethics and public responsibility.
Carlos Casasús, advocated for a regulatory body with clear functions and without double windows, as well as with the powers and resources to fulfill the mission that the Law entrusts to it.
