Paraguay. The telephony, internet and pay television sectors in Paraguay showed a 12.7% increase in revenue in 2011 for a total of US$1.2 billion generated, according to a report by the company Pyramid Research.
According to the report, the telecommunications market can be expected to grow in that country between 2011 and 2016 at a rate of 4.7% per year to reach revenues of US $ 1,500 million.
Similarly, the study predicts that pay or subscription television will consolidate as the third fastest growing market in that period, with an increase of 19.5% per year, ranking behind IP voice and broadband services.
This will be thanks to the investments that television companies have budgeted to make in the coming years. In fact, according to information published by the local newspaper La Nación, the internet and television service provider, Cablevisión, plans to invest about US$26 million to improve its infrastructure.
