Colombia. After nearly five years in office, Diego Molano retired from Colombia's ICT Ministry, citing personal reasons for accepting an international offer.
In announcing his resignation, the president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, indicated that "He has made the great digital revolution in Colombia. A revolution in which we specifically set out to include all Colombians: peasants, teachers, young people, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, in all the municipalities of the country. We can say that in these last four and a half years Colombia was connected with technology."
Another of its achievements is the strengthening of the software industry, in order for Colombia to become a leader in application development, especially with social impact. But while his achievements in IT are recognized, he also left unfinished business when it comes to television.
At the beginning of his administration he had indicated that in Colombia there could be one or two more television channels, but five years later the process of a third channel is still bogged down. It is also pending to adjust the regulation of television to the new realities proposed by technology.
As a replacement for Diego Molano, David Luna was appointed as Minister of ICT, who has a recognized public career in different positions, but without experience in the sector.
