International. TVNewsCheck magazine's 2013 Women's Leadership in Technology Award, which recognizes women who have contributed significantly to the technologically advanced industry, and will be presented at NAB in April, was presented to Wendy Aylsworth, president of the Society of Film and Television Engineers, SMPTE.
SMPTE is a society for the development of image-motion standards and education for the communications, media, entertainment and technology industries.
"Wendy Aylsworth is a truly inspiring figure, not only for women in tech, but also for women in media. While Wendy plays a pivotal role in helping Warner Bros. navigate a sea of technological change, she is also a leader in setting technical standards around the world," said Kathy Haley, editor of TVNewsCheck.
Aylsworth began his career in the aerospace industry and moved into the entertainment industry in 1989. He now oversees the establishment of new technologies for Warner Bros. from the senior vice president of technology.
"The Women in Technology Leadership Award is a prestigious award that I am honored to receive, not only because it recognizes the achievements of women in technology, but also because it benefits science and education programs that support young women who have just entered our industry," Aylsworth said.
