Uruguay. In what means the first step towards the analog blackout, after the ISDB-T digital standard was chosen in 2012, Uruguayan television began the test transmissions of the Open Television of the public channel TNU in Montevideo.
The event, which was attended by President José Mujica and the Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs and Telecommunications of Japan, Tetsuo Yamakawa, whose country provided the technical equipment to Uruguay, highlighted the investments and modernization of the infrastructure not only in digital TV, but also in the fiber optic network and in the fourth generation.
In turn, the Minister of Industry Roberto Kreimerman, said that the Uruguayan government "seeks to optimize the use of the radio spectrum, based on the digitization of radio and television; in addition to updating the corresponding regulations to have a base system of the knowledge society, development of related industries and technology transfer".
In addition, it was learned that in a short time a content development center and a digital television laboratory will be inaugurated in collaboration with Brazil in the rioplatense country.
