Body of public law with legal personality, administrative, patrimonial and technical autonomy, subject to its own legal regime, to develop and execute the plans and programs of the State in the public television service, as well as to direct the policy that in the field of television determines the law without prejudice to the freedoms enshrined in the National Constitution (Arts. 76 and 77). The CNTV is a state entity of constitutional origin, autonomous, that works for the democratization, modernization, optimization and quality of the public television service in Colombia, so that it educates, recreates and adequately informs Colombians. To this end, it regulates, manages, controls and monitors the provision of the different modalities of the public television service.
For the year 2002 the CNTV has developed legal and technical regulations that allow a competitive television nationally and internationally, according to the interests of Colombians.
