Talking about positive expectations about an event can end up being a catchphrase if it is not backed up by figures and concrete facts, but TecnoTelevisión 2013 has reason to say it.
More than a thousand professionals linked to the television industry of the Andean Region registered to attend the Commercial Exhibition one month before the Congress, a conference room dedicated to Pay and Community TV that for the first time is held and that complements the first Production and Postproduction room and an audiovisual contest that convened 30 groups of students from all over the country, are some of the data that support us.
One of the highlights within the Commercial Exhibition for 2013 is that some of the exhibitors are international distributors who are looking to enter or strengthen their presence in the region, in addition to important manufacturers that have always accompanied us, such as Sony and Rohde & Schwarz.
Among the companies that will be exhibiting their products and technologies for the television industry are: Digisat Media Colombia, Antenas Latinas, Atmedios, Broadcast Depot, Cricon International / Lordcom Usa, Avtech Ltda. Colombia, Datavideo Corporation, Dexel S.R.L. Argentina and Icl - Internacional de Camaras, Mediastream Colombia, Musik Link Colombia and Lentes Ltda.
Also with us will be Gad Electronics Inc./TalTech Inc., Media-Match Usa, Newtek Inc, Nsdis Animation Software, Nti - Nuevas Tecnologías Wireless Sl, Sony Professional Solutions Latin America, Rohde & Schwarz Colombia, Canal Click, SOS Directorio de Cine Y Televisión, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, among others that will be around to do business and contacts with the more than fifteen hundred attendees who will most likely arrive this year at the Expo.
To the whole chain
In the previous five years, TecnoTelevisión had been characterized because its conferences were focused on the Production and Postproduction of television. Attending to the requests of the attendees and understanding the need for training of all segments of the industry chain, this year we have a second conference room dedicated to Pay and Community TV.
This room will address issues such as piracy, content generation and audience for community TV, transition to HD, economic benefits of digitalization, types of networks and return channels and a panel in which the challenges and plans of community TV will be discussed in accordance with the latest regulation issued by the National Television Authority.
For its part, the Production and Postproduction room will have a series of conferences focused on the latest technology such as virtual sets, cloud editing, 4K, an analysis of digital consumption trends, every where workflows, internet video regulation, energy sustainability and a panel in which the future of open television will be analyzed.
Linking university students
Another of the novelties of TecnoTelevisión for 2013 is the realization of the University Contest through which students of careers related to audiovisual production in Colombia were linked to send a one that had as its central theme how technology affects society.
The TecnoTelevisión University Competition was well received by the students. In total, 30 jobs from different regions of the country were applied. Of these, five works were chosen as finalists and by virtual vote the winner will be chosen, which will be announced during the first day of the Congress.
Those in charge of choosing the finalists were three juries that have extensive experience in the country's television industry. One of them is Yan Camilo Vergara, television producer of the Jaime Isaza Cadavid Polytechnic and Social Communicator-Journalist of the University of Antioquia and with a Master's degree in Aesthetics at the National University of Colombia.
In his professional career, he works in the regional channels Teleantioquia and Telemedellín. In addition, he received the Euro News Radio France International Award for Best Documentary for Spanish-language TV in 2003.
Another member of the jury is Emilio Manjarrés, director of television and content at UNE. In his academic training, Emilio is an Electronic Engineer from the Pontifical Bolivarian University and has a specialization in Marketing. The last years of his working life have been dedicated to television.
The group is complemented by Leonardo Ramírez, director and director of film and television. Social Communicator Journalist by profession, his experience is focused on the creation of advertising campaigns and the realization of the audiovisual pieces required for them. In addition to having an academic and teaching career in careers related to audiovisual production.
This initiative, organized with the support of the Centro Atico of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and the Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana, was also well received by the industry. Sony joined the Competition by providing the main prize, a professional 3D camera. In addition, the winner will receive training in Smoke at the Atico Center. See you at TecnoTelevisión!
