Canon earns 28.6% more in the second quarter

Canon gana un 28,6% más en el segundo trimestre

TOKYO, 24 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Japanese electronics company Canon obtained in the second quarter of 2013 a net attributable profit of 66,496 million yen (503 million euros), 28.6% more than the 51,714 million yen (391 million euros) it earned in the same period of 2012, according to the company, which however has cut its forecasts for the whole of the fiscal year.

The net sales of the Japanese electronics company reached 966,880 million yen (7,037 million euros) from April to June, which is 7.5% more compared to the 899,205 million yen (6,796 million euros) that it entered in the second quarter of the previous year.

In the first six months of the year as a whole, Canon posted a net profit of 107,409 million yen (€812 million), down 5.2% from the same period in 2012, while sales rose 3.2% to 1.73 trillion yen (€13,478 million).

For the 2013 financial year as a whole, Canon forecasts net attributable profit of 260 billion yen (€1,965 million), down 15.8% from 2012 and below its previous estimate of 290 billion yen (€2,192 million).

For its part, it expects sales to fall by 10.6%, to 3.85 trillion yen (29,095 million euros), a figure that worsens its previous estimate of 3.98 trillion yen (30,077 million euros).

The company explains that the third quarter will be marked by the negative impact of the "prolonged recession in Europe" and uncertainty on China's economic growth, despite which expecting the global economy to achieve "moderate growth" due to the "aggressive" fiscal and monetary policies in the United States and Japan.
