MADRID, 1 Sep. (Portaltic/EP) -
SAP has developed a project based on SAP POS Data Management, a solution for the collection, validation and distribution of the data generated in the Point of Sale Terminals (POS) located in the 418 supermarkets that Grupo El Árbol owns in Spain.
Supermercados El Árbol has a workforce that exceeds 7,000 employees and 418 supermarkets distributed in ten autonomous communities: Castilla y León, Asturias, Extremadura, Cantabria, Galicia, Murcia, Andalusia, Valencia, La Rioja and Aragon.
The project, which has been carried out by the team of professionals in the SAP Services area, has lasted 5 months and allows to manage the daily sales of more than 12,300 references of different materials. This initiative is part of the group's strategic plan to address a series of projects with SAP solutions with the aim of optimizing and making profitable the stock in store and the management of the assortment, as well as to enhance the capacity of analysis through a Business Intelligence system.
Grupo El Árbol was looking for a solution with proven solvency in the Retail sector, which would support its requirements and support its growth strategy within its technological platform based on SAP.
"In line with our strategy in Information Systems, based on the centralization of systems, the integration of applications and the implementation of standard solutions, we have incorporated a powerful SAP product to accelerate the management of the large amount of information generated daily by the POS terminals of all the supermarkets that we have distributed throughout the Spanish geography. The implemented solution allows us to process and integrate store data immediately, practically online and, all this, supported by a solid analysis platform such as SAP BI, "says the CIO of Grupo El Árbol, Agustín Ramos.
Likewise, the manager emphasizes that "SAP solutions adjust and comply with the requirements of the group, as they provide us with a detailed control of the activity in each establishment and facilitate decision making, in addition to being able to grow from the technical and functional point of view at the same pace as the organization does".
ADAPTATION TO NEEDS
SAP explained that, taking as a reference the specific needs of the business, a project based on SAP POS Data Management has been carried out, a solution that provides Grupo El Árbol with the necessary flexibility to cover the key business requirements.
In addition, SAP Business Intelligence has been launched as the analytical engine of the solution, which provides the supermarket chain with a more agile and detailed exploitation capacity of sales and cash information. This allows to significantly improve the visibility on the activity in all supermarkets ranging from the total aggregated by company to the last detail of any of the sales tickets.
Likewise, SAP POS Data Management has been integrated with all points of sale through SAP Process Integration (PI), which has optimized and standardized the communication between supermarkets and the headquarters of all commercial transactions carried out. This new solution will guarantee the future capacity of Grupo El Árbol to be able to integrate information from all types of systems (external, internal, from other companies, suppliers).
The project has been carried out following the quality standards of SAP and Grupo El Árbol by a team of professionals that has involved a combination of knowledge and experience in the solutions and in the sector.
