NAB. The Australian company Blackmagic Design presented several of its novelties in the 2017 version of NAB Show. Two of them have attracted attention for their scope and benefits for users, they are related to the Davinci Resolve editing system and the Ursa mini cameras.
Version 14 of the Davinci Resolve system is considered by the company to be the largest release in the history of software, thanks to improvements made that solve some of the biggest problems in post-production.
One of the problems was performance. It is now up to 10 times faster than the previous version. It is also very fluid and sensitive. Another important topic in the industry is audio. With DaVinci Resolve 14 they have built in Fairlight audio a new page of their own in the software. It is very powerful and can play up to 1000 tracks with parametric equalizer, dynamics and plug-ins on each track, all in real time, when used with the Fairlight Accelerator audio card.
For its part, the URSA Mini Pro camera now has Bluetooth function, with which a new application for iPad has been developed that offers complete remote control of the camera settings, as well as metadata input. Also, the company opened up the protocol to developers who want to use the API to customize their own control solutions.
With a fully open API and developer support for bluetooth in URSA Mini Pro, users can create apps to remotely adjust camera settings, control the DaVinci Resolve color checker, add metadata, sync cameras, and much more.
