Canal moves its historical archive to the Cloud with VSN

International. VSN's technology, together with the Cloud services of the operator Andorra Telecom, have allowed the andorran public broadcasting company to move all its historical archive to the cloud, with the aim of preserving and storing in a more secure and controlled way all the files of the channel. This new service implemented in RTVA's facilities has become operational in January 2017.

The public company Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra (RTVA) has opted for VSN technology to bring to the Cloud the historical archive of its facilities, where it kept to date all its audiovisual material preserved and stored. Thanks to vsN technology together with the private cloud service offered by the company Andorra Telecom, RTVA has expanded the VSNEXPLORER MAM solution it already had to allow it to automatically control and store all its files on its physical equipment and in the cloud at the same time.

Thanks to this new extension of VSNEXPLORER MAM, the channel has been able to digitize and preserve all its historical archive in a safer and more controlled environment, since in case of loss of material, all this would be safe in the Cloud of the operator Andorra Telecom. In addition, the implementation of this new archiving system allows professionals to retrieve and work with all the contents of the physical file much more efficiently and quickly, allowing to preview the files and work with them in low resolution.

"The digitization of historical archives is an inescapable issue for television and radio networks, not only for obvious issues of security and conservation of all their audiovisual files, but also for issues of monetization and profitability of these contents," says the COO of VSN, Aaron López. "The most precious asset available to the media is undoubtedly their historical archive and in the end we also have to worry about providing professionals with access to these contents in a simple and fast way so that they can work on them as many times as they want and remotely and distributed," adds López.

To date, RTVA had been working with VSN's systems for almost 20 years to achieve 100% digital and automated news writing. Specifically, the channel had a complete end-to-end system composed of software for news production, VSNMULTICOM for continuity automation, VSNCREATV for programming planning and VSNXEPLORER MAM to perform exclusively file archiving and continuity tasks.
