Latin America. Blackmagic Design announced the availability of a new update for its professional editing and color grading program. Version 12.5.3 allows you to import projects from Final Cut Pro X, as well as providing improvements related to ACES color space processing and interoperability with Media Composer. This update can now be downloaded for free from the Blackmagic Design website.
DaVinci Resolve 12.5.3 supports the new XML 1.6 format used in the latest version of the Final Cut Pro X program. Therefore, this allows you to export projects from that application to DaVinci Resolve, for the purpose of coloring the material, and then generate XML files to open them again in Final Cut Pro X. Also, this update facilitates the use of PostgreSQL 9.5.2 databases in the MacOS Sierra operating system.
On the other hand, DaVinci Resolve 12.5.3 is also compatible with the ACES 1.0.2 system, which includes the ACEScct color space. This provides the opportunity to perform a quasi-logarithmic coding of the data to carry out the color grading in the Blackmagic Design program.
At the same time, this new version improves interoperability with Media Composer. This makes it possible to greatly optimize projects in AAF format that contain dissolves and other transformative effects, thus facilitating the export of them to DaVinci Resolve to finish them. The new update of the program also presents advances when it comes to exporting Dolby Vision XML content, which makes it possible to master high dynamic range images.
"In addition to being an extraordinary solution in terms of editing and color grading, one of the things that users appreciate most about DaVinci Resolve is its wide degree of compatibility with a myriad of applications," said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design. "This new release makes it easy to import projects created in Final Cut Pro X and Media Composer. By opening them in DaVinci Resolve, it is possible to make use of the new features for the ACES and DolbyVision systems with the aim of editing, grading and putting the finishing touches on the material, thus generating high dynamic range images with extraordinary quality."
