International. SAM introduced the new Kula range of multi-format production mixers, with combination capabilities of SD, HD and 4K. Built on the heritage of SAM's award-winning Kahuna switch, Kula uses innovative Fusion3 technology to seamlessly blend any format, including 4K, and eliminate the need for external conversion equipment.
The new Kula switch provides easy installation and commissioning, which means operators can work quickly and efficiently, to focus on creative, high-value tasks. Ideal for multiple applications, from live events, the production of sports broadcasts and houses of worship, entertainment and conferences. Kula has been designed to meet a wide range of production needs.
Capable of handling 4K/1080p/HD and 1M/E SD and 2M/E versions, Kula can handle multiple formats making it future-proof and adaptable for today's production environment. The 2 M/E HD/SD version can be switched to 4K 1M/E mode, allowing users to benefit from the higher production values.
Kula provides a choice of three easy-to-operate control panels for maximum flexibility and in turn are expandable with additional control modules. It also offers up to five main layers per M/E and up to 36 assignable inputs and 18 outputs.
Tim Felstead, Sam's Head of Product Marketing, said, "Today's broadcasters face a situation that can only be described as a challenge; content is being captured and delivered in a wider range of formats than ever before, all within the same production workflow. Kula addresses this need by making use of Kahuna's heritage – namely its ability to handle any format. Added to this, we are seeing an explosion of content creation beyond the traditional realm of streaming, so there are a growing number of organizations that want to benefit from high production values in order to achieve the flexibility and on-screen result they want. Kula is an ideal solution for any of these applications."
