Latin America. Blackmagic Design announced the release of the new free version DaVinci Resolve 12.2, which provides compatibility with new technologies in colorimetry, in addition to the decoding of QuickTime files in HEVC / H.265 format for the OS X operating system and additional features of high dynamic range, among others. All users of DaVinci Resolve 12 and DaVinci Resolve 12 Studio can download it from the company's website.
Since the release of version 12.1 last month, Blackmagic Design engineers have worked to continue to deliver the capabilities required by professional editors and colorists, as well as to support the latest formats with expanded color spaces and a wide dynamic range. With this new version, Blackmagic Design continues to improve the program and remains the market leader in color, dynamic range and image processing.
Also, this new version offers compatibility with the latest cameras from Blackmagic and other manufacturers, while presenting improvements in the color management of DaVinci Resolve. Users get new features, such as the HLG tonal response curve with its corresponding conversion tables, transformation of the initial content in the ACES space for clips captured with the Canon C300 Mk II camera and updated ST 2084 HDR colorimetry. This means that colorists have better tools to finish projects with a high dynamic range, which will be distributed to movie theaters with state-of-the-art projection systems, such as IMAX Laser and Dolby Vision. It is also possible to obtain content compatible with 4K HDR TVs of the new generation.
This release also supports NewBlue Titler Pro titles by using Media Composer AAF streams, provides improvements to the alpha channel of the ProRes 4444 format by default setting to blend mode, maintains the opacity of Power Window and reverses settings when converting Power Curve, and many more features.
