Colombia. With the resources allocated by the National Television Authority, ANTV, to the operator of the national network RTVC, the installation of the necessary infrastructure was carried out to provide the digital terrestrial television signal, DTT, to the Island of San Andrés, to ensure the broadcasting of the contents of Señal Colombia, Señal Institucional, Canal UNO and the regional channel Teleislas, that start of operations July 2015.
The Director of the ANTV, Ángela María Mora Soto, recalled that from Thursday, December 10, "Sanandresanos will have the possibility of watching a better signal for free." The objective is to provide the technological solution to 25% of the population of San Andrés corresponding to strata 1 and 2 and raizales so that they have access to the public television service through DTT.
For the entry of High Definition Television, the entity has invested between 2014 and 2015 more than $ 9,000 million in content production and technological infrastructure for the Teleislas Channel, in order to guarantee the entry into operation of this technology and the commissioning of the digital room with all the equipment and cameras in HD that allow the production of content of better image quality.
The project aims to guarantee the technical, coverage, social, dissemination and socialization conditions in the implementation of dvb-T2 DTT in San Andrés to constitute the first pilot of analog shutdown
The deadline for the implementation of this plan is June 2017, which will be implemented and led by the ANTV, with the support of the Ministry of ICTs, the CCNP, public and private operators, and SENA. In addition, it will have the collaboration of civil society organizations, business and industry unions, community action boards and departmental authorities.
