HBO to Launch New Streaming Service for Latin America

Latin America. HBO Latin America announced plans to launch a new HBO GO digital platform as a paid internet service throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The company plans to begin rolling out the service in markets across the region, starting with the launch in Colombia towards the end of the year.

By launching the HBO GO platform as an "on-demand" streaming service, HBO Latin America will offer HBO/MAX premium content for the first time in the region to consumers who only have a broadband connection.

HBO GO is currently available as an add-on to the HBO/MAX Premium Package subscription with Pay-TV operators in the region. With the launch of the new platform as an Online subscription service, consumers who only have a broadband connection will be able to access HBO GO through distributors that offer the service throughout Spanish-speaking Latin America, Brazil, and the Caribbean.

The different distribution agreements and the "a la carte" price of the HBO GO digital service will be announced jointly with the distributors when launching the service market to market soon.

"We've seen changes in content consumption habits and are launching this new HBO GO platform as an 'a la carte' service in response to those new trends. We are building possibilities and adding greater flexibility to our model and to our distributors, giving consumers the option to enjoy HBO/MAX Premium content the way they want," said Emilio Rubio, CEO of HBO Latin America.

HBO GO features more than 2,500 commercial-free titles of the best exclusive content from any subscription service: more of the best and latest Hollywood movies before any other service; all episodes of all seasons of HBO's original series in the United States; all the series of the more than 10 years of HBO's original production in Latin America; HBO's innovative documentaries, films and specials; and will offer the international and independent cinema of the MAX channel; and all of MAX's award-winning series.

The launch of the digital subscription service will also bring new functionality to the HBO GO platform, including multi-languages: the option to choose the language (Spanish, English or Portuguese) of the platform, audio and subtitles; a linear channel HBO live; and a redesigned user interface.

For pay-TV subscribers, HBO Latin America plans to continue offering HBO GO for free, as an added value to the traditional HBO/MAX subscription, with all the operation and content of the online subscription service.

HBO's original shows have earned numerous primetime Emmys and Golden Globe Awards nominations and® victories®.  HBO swept multiple categories and broke records again recently at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards, receiving more awards than any other channel for the 14th consecutive year, and also in the history of the channel.
