Latin America. One of the novelties and bets of the company Newtek launched in the last month, is the Network Device Interface, NDI, its new open IP protocol for workflows in production.
"NDI is a unique IP workflow in the industry. What we are doing is allowing every source that is in our ecosystem to be seen by any system. It is a bidirectional protocol, every source is a destination for all systems and vice versa," Jorge Dighero, representative of Newtek, told TVyVideo+Radio.
This is a protocol that works with video, audio, and metadata. Its architecture is prepared to offer any format context that the industry decides to adopt, such as HD and 4K.
Jorge Dighero added that "our protocol is tremendously reliable, that is one of the biggest differences. This allows us to work under very simple network infrastructures in a workflow, which allows us to integrate all video sources and all systems, both inputs and outputs. All computers are visible to all systems. The important point is that we already have more than 50 companies that are implementing their infrastructures with NDI."
The difference of this system with respect to the protocol that Newtek had before is that it was a system giving a source by IP and when it was taken in the Tricaster it was one by one, only one computer could take it. With NDI, all systems on the network can take it.
"IP is here to stay, whether we like it or not, and that's why Newtek is offering a solution that prepares us for the future," he concluded.
