Colombia. For many developers, cable private and / or community operators, the Technical Regulation for Internal Telecommunications Networks, RITEL, is a standard seen in a very discreet way, which it should not be, because ultimately it will provide them with a great benefit when providing their services to new homes and offices subject to the Co-ownership or Horizontal Property Regime, that from the same construction they must implement this standard.
As of its entry into force on July 15, the builders of new homes and offices must comply with technical obligations that allow users to freely choose their operator of telecommunications services (internet, digital TV and telephony), and not be limited to the services offered by a single provider, which was given under agreements that did not benefit the end user.
The standard establishes in itself, a design for any operator to feed with its signals the internal telecommunications network providing access to these services in a standardized way, in the same way establishes the requirements for the infrastructure that supports said network to be appropriate.
On the other hand, it contemplates the inspection, control and surveillance regime with which the effectiveness and compliance with technical standards at all levels is guaranteed. The rule does not ignore the existence of a transitional regime that establishes the deadlines for the application of RITEL
The Colombian Association of Engineers, ACIEM, in order to provide the necessary tools to do things well from the beginning, developed on August 25, the first RITEL Products and Services Fair, an event in which more than 20 companies from the telecommunications sector participated.
There products, materials and equipment were exhibited to about 300 participants and professionals who had the opportunity to know different alternatives when designing and implementing their networks.
