Since July Colombian public channels broadcast in HD

Colombia. Since the first of July, the national public channels: Canal Uno, Señal Institucional and Señal Colombia and the Regional Channels: Teleantioquia, Telecaribe, Televisión Regional de Oriente, Telecafé and Telepacífico broadcast their contents in High Definition (HD) through the Digital Terrestrial Television – DTT system.

The National Television Authority, ANTV, through resolution 0443 of June 16, worth $4,317 million, financed the contracting of the satellite capacity required for national and regional public channels to have the necessary conditions to transmit the signal in HD.

These contents can be received by viewers in the cities that currently have dTT signal, including the island of San Andrés that has the service since April of this year, by using the basic elements required by digital television for its reception, that is, television with built-in DTT tuner or DTT decoder, clarifying that in both cases it is necessary to use a receiving antenna.

"It is an obligation of the ANTV to guarantee access to television by all Colombians, this is another step forward to meet this goal. Viewers will access the signal in high definition totally free and without having any subscription to an additional service," said Ángela María Mora Soto, Director of the ANTV.

RTVC as manager of the public television network, is the entity in charge of coordinating with the regional channels and the concessionaires of the UNO channel, Institutional Signal and Signal Colombia the Migration Plan of the signal to High Definition and to make the modifications in the use of the satellite capacity, so that this evolution is guaranteed without affecting the service.

The regional channels TV Andina, Canal Capital and Teleislas will broadcast their contents in High Definition once their production, post-production and broadcast areas are ready to operate signals with this quality.
