International. Blackmagic Design announced the availability of the DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G - Quad SDI model, a new PMC card that allows you to connect old UHD and 4K equipment with 3G SDI technology (Quad Link) to a computer using the DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G capture and playback card.
The DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G card has 12G SDI connections that provide the possibility of using state-of-the-art 4K devices with high frame rate through a single high-speed SDI cable. On the other hand, older monitors and projectors feature 3G Quad Link SDI connections that require 4 SDI cables. The new PMC model bridges the gap by offering users high-speed 12G SDI connectivity and four 3G SDI connections on the same card.
Thanks to the new DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G - Quad SDI card, a colorist who uses DaVinci Resolve in a color grading studio can directly incorporate monitors and digital cinema projectors that have four 3G SDI connections without the need to purchase additional external converters. In addition to providing support for Quad SDI technology, this card includes an integrated hardware converter that makes it possible to transmit images in 1080p60 from 2160p60 (SDI 12G) sources.
The new Quad Link SDI PCM card fits into the corresponding slot of the DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G model and replaces the HDMI card that normally occupies that space. It is easily replaceable and any user can install it without major difficulties. It also offers the possibility of capturing and playing back content through four 3G SDI connectors.
On the other hand, the company announced the release of version 10.4.1 of the Desktop Video program. This update is compatible with the DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G - Quad SDI model and facilitates the processing of images in 4:4:4 RGB 12-bit format at a resolution of 2160p30 with a great color depth, also allowing compositions in 1080p60.
