NAB. Visitors to NAB 2015 had the opportunity to discover numerous features of the Clipster mastering station. Among other features, Rohde & Schwarz DVS has incorporated key new features to offer its customers the complete MFI process from a single provider: creation of markers on the timeline, closed captions, subtitles and digital watermarks.
The IMF (interoperable master format) format can completely replace tapes as a mastering format or as a business-to-business (B2B) exchange format. With an end-to-end IMF toolkit, Rohde & Schwarz DVS has established a standardized successor according to SMPTE for tape-based processes and for advanced consumer file formats.
With IMF, content providers not only benefit from the flexibility of file-based workflows combined with the reliability offered by tape production, but also find a way out of the maze of multilingual versions. As the only standardized mastering solution for UHD, Rec. 2020 and HDR, IMF offers content owners and providers a secure option to store and exchange TV series and movies using IMF packages generated with R&S Clipster.
Based on this premise, the company has equipped its Clipster mastering station with additional functions to make processes more efficient and distribute content more easily. All material, including closed captions and subtitles, can be arranged in the timeline in the usual way.
R&S Clipster also includes the NexGuard digital watermark feature, which allows content owners and their distributors to protect their content up to UHD and 4K prior to publication. And all this with the extraordinary performance and variety of formats of R&S Clipster. With the watermark procedure it is possible to track the content and thus quickly identify potential license violations.
