International. For the first time at NAB, Hitachi Kokusai will demonstrate the SK-UHD4000, a 4K Ultra-HDTV camera system using standard B4 3.2-inch HDTV mount lenses.
The use of standard high-definition television lenses eliminates the need for adaptively mounted optically degenerative lenses. This technological advantage allows broadcasters and production companies to effectively use their existing camera lenses to record video in 4K resolution, while taking advantage of the TELEVISION production workflows associated with normal HDTV (2K) cameras.
The camera is already in use around the world. Gearhouse Broadcast deployed the camera in the UK at the ATP World Tour Finals and in Australia to create the first native 4K OB car, the HD8.
The Hitachi SK-UHD4000 uses a patented four-port RGB prism system combined with four sensors, two are green, to deliver the 4K performance of a 35mm single color matrix sensor in a standard portable camera chassis.
Other features include 4K frame-independent 2K cropping, the ability to change the 4K transport flow from square view to 2-sample collation, 3G HD-SDI switchable Level-A/B, and simultaneous multi-format outputs (2K and 4K).
