International. The new wireless intercom system, radio Active Designs (RAD) UV-1G, which includes patented enhanced shortband technology to overcome the ongoing overcrowding of the radio frequency spectrum while delivering exceptional audio quality and operational flexibility, is now on sale.
The improved short-band technology, a unique modulation scheme, is 10 times more spectrally efficient than the current FM (Frequency Modulated) technology currently on the market. This proprietary approach is a form of amplitude modulation (AM), and makes the busy bandwidth of the transmitter – a pivotal figure in wireless frequency coordination – more predictable.
As a result, UV-1G offers RF channels that possess a busy bandwidth of 25 kHz with the audio features one would expect from a traditional FM system.
James Stoffo, a director of Radio Active Designs, explained: "A typical FM wireless intercom system requires 300 kHz of the radio band to function properly. By implementing improved shortband, UV-1G requires less than 30 kHz, and even if carried out in the UHF band, it would still be around 10 times more spectrally efficient.
In addition, with the application of contemporary engineering techniques, uv-1G implements a number of digital processing technologies that help produce sound quality with the heat and intelligibility of an FM system.
To minimize rack space and maximize ISO channel operation, UV-1G systems allow up to six belt packets per base station, and up to six base station links, for a total of 36 ISO channels between packets.
