Latin America. Sony Professional Solutions of Latin America (PSLA) introduced the new shoulder camera, PXW-X500 solid-state memory, which follows the line of its predecessor, the PMW-500. The new PXW-X500 model delivers superior image quality with three new sophisticated 2/3" CCD image sensors.
By design, the camera becomes an acquisition tool on a progressive 1080P platform, for a wide range of HD production applications, such as television novels, live productions, news and sports productions.
Characteristics
Multi-format recording
The PXW-X500 offers a wide range of traditional and new recording formats, including SD formats such as MPEG IMX and DVCAM, HD formats such as MPEG-4 SStP and MPEG HD422, plus XAVC Intra 4:2:2 1080 59.94/50i and XAVC Long 4:2:2 1080 59.94/50p. In early 2015, the PXW-X500 will also offer recording options on Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD.
High sensitivity and high signal-to-noise ratio with B4-mount HD lenses
The three newly developed 2/3" Power HAD FX CCD sensors produce high-quality images and high signal-to-noise ratio (60dB), while maintaining high levels of sensitivity (F11 at 1080/59.94i and F12 at 1080/50i), for whose characteristics, XDCAM shoulder cameras are recognized worldwide.
Slow and fast motion function up to 120p
The PXW-X500 offers a powerful slow and fast motion function. Thanks to the XAVC codec, the highest frame rate can reach 1080/120p, five times higher than the normal frame rate of 23.98p.
This performance is achieved thanks to the camera's newly developed CCD sensors and outstanding image processing capabilities.
Built-in wireless module that facilitates and the transfer of proxy content
The PXW-X500 has a built-in wireless module that allows it to be operated from compatible Wi-Fi devices such as tablets or smartphones, through the USB wireless module, IFU-WLM3. In addition, it is possible to generate lightweight video files, proxy, on the optional SD card, the functions of which are offered by the wireless adapter, CBK-WA100 for other cameras.
In early 2015, the wireless module will be able to transmit proxy content via Wi-Fi or LTE (Long Term Evolution).

- The GPS function, which automatically records data in MXF and Log files, when activated.
